This past week, I played one funeral Mass and have been asked to “stand by” for another family whose father is on the brink of passing. These events have prompted me to think about the season of Christmas and how it relates to my life.Despite the commercialism associated with this season, Christmas is about giving; and not just giving physical gifts, but spiritual ones as well. It’s a time where we give of ourselves. Admittedly, I’ve forgotten that at times, so I’m now resolved to rectify that.In the memorial Mass I recently played, one of the eulogists remarked (I’m paraphrasing here), “…we need to cherish every moment of every day we have with each other.” He even admitted that it’s easier said than done.
